If you're in need of U.S. immigration benefits, it's always best to work with a qualified immigration attorney. Trying to navigate the hurdles of immigration law on your own is like flying a plane without any experience. It may seem easiest to jump in without any guidance, but doing so can be more detrimental to your goals than hiring a great lawyer. If you're wondering whether or not you need an immigration lawyer, keep these common benefits in mind.
Trying to understand legal paperwork is hard enough, even when youâre born in the U.S. For non-native English speakers, figuring out immigration paperwork is even more difficult. Filling out the forms and gathering the necessary supporting documents can be quite overwhelming and bewildering. Seasoned immigration attorneys are well-versed in the correct procedures for filling out these forms. Failing to fill out these forms accurately can lead to significant delays in the approval of your immigration benefits and may result in additional filing fees.
There are multiple ways to obtain U.S. citizenship, and if you're on your own, you might not be aware of all the options. This is where an immigration lawyer can step in to help. They can present different paths, explain the advantages and disadvantages of each, and make sure you fully grasp the implications of your choice on your citizenship journey.
Immigration lawyers are equipped to assist you in obtaining the necessary authorization to work in the U.S. A skilled attorney is familiar with the precise information you must provide to secure work authorization and to ensure the smooth progress of your application. Without a legal expert, errors in the process can cause significant delays.
If you're looking to become a U.S. citizen, chances are this is your first time trying. Thankfully, when you secure counsel from a reputable firm like Central Florida Immigration Attorneys, you can sleep a little easier knowing they have years of experience helping people just like you. Your immigration lawyer should be familiar with the various scenarios and pathways to the immigration benefit you seek. This will be advantageous for you as they have the expertise to identify the necessary documentation, recommend the most suitable options, and provide you with guidance on what to anticipate throughout the process.
Remember that the government can deem you inadmissible for various reasons, such as unresolved financial issues, criminal activity, or providing false information. If you're considered inadmissible, it doesn't have to be the end of the road. There are methods to challenge this ruling. An immigration attorney can assist you in presenting a compelling case. Although there's no guarantee that the immigration court will reverse the decision, having a seasoned lawyer by your side will undoubtedly improve your chances.
Finding the right immigration law firm can feel a little bit like searching for a needle in a haystack. That's true in every state but especially so in Florida, where immigrants make up approximately 21% of the population, according to the American Immigration Counsel. So, how do you find the top immigration attorneys in your state? Here are a few tips we've compiled together to help make your search easier.
While your immigration matters are in progress, it's important to stay informed about the status of your case, any challenges that may arise, and what actions you might need to take. That's why it's crucial to work with immigration lawyers who value proactive communication. You can ask your attorney about their communication skills and how often they communicate with you, but take that answer with a grain of salt. It's also helpful to check reviews and read what former clients have to say about their responsiveness. Don't settle for a lawyer who fails to keep you updated.
This tip piggybacks off our first point because it involves communication. If you have questions about your case or any other facet of your immigration status, your lawyer should be available to answer those questions and provide reassurance when needed. It's not always realistic to expect that a lawyer will be able to answer your call right away, but it is reasonable to anticipate that your attorney will respond to you within a few days. If a lawyer has a track record of not returning calls from previous clients (which you might find out from client reviews, for instance), then be cautious about working with that lawyer and keep looking for another one.
If a lawyer has ever been publicly criticized or had formal complaints made against them by former clients, the state bar association will keep records of these incidents. If you're thinking of hiring a lawyer for an important immigration matter, it's a good idea to see what their reputation is like with the state bar association. That way, you can verify the immigration lawyer's experience and also potentially become aware of any professional issues the lawyer may have had in the past.
Immigration law can be quite complex, and the procedures associated with such matters can be equally intricate. That's why it's so important to work with an immigration lawyer who has experience handling different types of immigration cases or - at the least - a good deal of experience working cases just like yours. You can gauge an attorney's experience with immigration cases by checking their website first. If that information is not readily available, don't hesitate to reach out to the lawyer directly to inquire about their experience in handling cases similar to yours. Don't forget to check reviews online.
When it's all said and done, you've got to have confidence in your immigration lawyer, trust them to be honest about your case, and provide upfront advice about your options when faced with obstacles. You can get a sense of an immigration lawyer's integrity and truthfulness by meeting them for an initial consultation and reading client testimonials to learn about their honesty. If you don't feel entirely at ease with an immigration lawyer after this meeting, it's best to look elsewhere.
Even if you're fluent in English, it's important to have an immigration attorney who can provide services in multiple languages. This is especially crucial if your immigration matters involve family members, colleagues, or others who have limited English proficiency. If language might be an issue for you or someone else involved in your immigration case, make sure that the lawyer you're interested in offers services in your native or preferred language. At Central Florida Immigration Attorneys, we proudly offer legal services in both English and Spanish.
If you're new to this country, trying to understand immigration law is overwhelming. But with the right guidance and preparedness, your family's immigration goals are within reach. At Central Florida Immigration Attorneys, we help clients achieve success and peace of mind through years of combined experience, honesty, communication, professional guidance, and innovative immigration law strategies. Contact our office today to learn more about how we can help when you need it most.
Wondering if there are any red flags you should be aware of when choosing immigration attorneys in Hallandale Beach, FL? The simple answer to that question is yes. If you've got a bad gut feeling or notice any of the following red flags, be wary.
Attorneys who try to approach you at an office offering United States Citizenship and Immigration Services often provide lackluster legal services. Great immigration lawyers won't have the time to hang out at a USCIS office all day because they're busy serving clients.
Beware of individuals who present themselves as "visa consultants," "notarios," or "petition preparers," as they are not the same as licensed attorneys. Oftentimes, they simply assist with filling out forms but lack a genuine understanding of your legal circumstances. There is a possibility that they may complete the forms incorrectly or even abscond with your money without providing any services at all.
Be very careful of lawyers who give you unethical or even illegal advice. For example, be cautious of lawyers who advise you to lie on an immigration form, deceive a USCIS officer, or attempt to bribe an immigration authority. If you get caught, it could result in a permanent bar from U.S. immigration benefits.
At Central Florida Immigration Attorneys, we have years of combined experience successfully representing clients in a range of immigration cases. We're dedicated to providing reliable, transparent legal services, whether you need help with a basic immigration application or litigation for an extremely complicated federal matter.
Unlike some immigration law firms, we combine state-of-the art technology with traditional one-on-one service to give our clients robust, effective counsel. You can count on your case progressing as fast as possible while having confidence that our immigration lawyers in cityname, state, will answer your questions honestly, clearly, and efficiently. HALLANDALE BEACH, FLA. (WSVN) - Dozens of Ukrainian-Americans gathered on the streets of Hallandale Beach to show support for Ukraine, hours after that country’s president engaged in a verbal dispute with President Donald Trump in the Oval Office.
7News cameras captured demonstrators chanting and holding up signs along the 400 block of South Federal Highway, Friday night.
Members of South Florida’s Ukrainian-American community said watching the 10-minute argument between the two heads of state left them worried and upset.
“It’s like a lot of anger today,” said Karina Moisieieva.
“It was very hard, it was bizarre,” Raphael Nagli.
Demonstrators held up a Ukrainian flag and signs that read “Putin to Hague. Free Ukraine” as they chanted “Freedom for Ukraine.”
Dimitry, who has lived in America for half his life, said he feels America has made a complete 180 on the issue of foreign policy.
“Like a betrayal. The support of democracy in foreign countries, that’s number one, that’s always been the priority. I’m worried, not just for Ukraine, but the whole world is watching,” he said.
Others told 7News they still have family and friends in Ukraine and hoped the war with Russia would be over soon but now feel that their hopes have been dashed.
“When Trump came to power, everybody was expecting he was going to work tirelessly to bring the peace he promised to all Americans and Ukrainians. Many Ukrainians in the last couple of months were prepared to go home. They actually were packing already, and everything changed today,” said Nagli.
Some demonstrators carried the sunflower, Ukraine’s national flower. Another carried a Ukrainian flag signed by soldiers fighting the war, and others sang the national anthem.
“When I moved here, I had such a big belief in this country. When you know this is a country of possibilities, you have freedom of speech, you have your rights. And now, all that is tearing apart. That’s really, really, really upsetting,” said Moisieieva.
Florida for Ukraine, the group that organized this rally, said they will continue their lobbying efforts to get more humanitarian aid to Ukrainian civilians and soldiers.

It’s located one block south from the baseball and soccer fields of Peter Bluesten Park and two blocks west of the Gulfstream Park lifestyle center, racecourse and casino.
The applicant seeks to redevelop the site with an eight-story, 274,000-square-foot building containing 185 apartments and 228 parking spaces. There would be an amenity deck on the second floor with a pool, a gym, a mini market and a playground.
The apartments would range from 478 to 1,026 square feet, with an average size of about 800 square feet. There would be 48 studio apartments, 83 one-bedroom units, and 54 two-bedroom units. That would include eight townhouse-style units on the ground floor.
Ari Sklar, head of Hollywood-based Sklarchitecture said this is one of three projects he’s working on in Hallandale Beach. Chaberman couldn’t be reached for comment. He’s the co-founder of Grupo Eco, which previously built the Atlantic Village retail and office center in Hallandale Beach.
There’s been a development boom in Hallandale Beach in recent years as more people seek to live in the coastal city. It’s in between two major airports, has the Gulfstream Park horseracing and casino center, near the Aventura Mall, and has a Brightline passenger rail station close by.

For breakfast, they serve shakshuka made with tomatoes, peppers, and garlic confit. The "Elegance" dish combines grilled asparagus, salmon, and a six-minute egg topped with miso hollandaise and red caviar. Lunch options range from mushroom soup with coconut milk to tom yum to a wagyu beef burger with gruyere cheese and truffle mushroom sauce. For heartier appetites, they offer flap steak with chimichurri and creamy fettuccine pasta with salmon and shrimp. The Ivan's Skillet features creamy chicken thighs with mushrooms, onion, and parmesan with potato confit.
Sweet options include the "Crownie," a brownie and croissant cake with coco sorbet; "Katmer," fried baklava with Turkish goat ice cream; and the namesake "Davinci," French toast with berries, Biscoff ganache, and miso caramel. After 6 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, the cocktail menu kicks in with classics like Negroni and Manhattan, plus house creations including the "Rum Diary" with pineapple rum and coconut ice, "Cocorita" made with variations of coconut and tequila, and the "Clear Piña Colada" featuring coconut oil-washed rum and pineapple cordial.

Next door, KC Market has set up its third location in 10,000 square feet of space. The kosher grocery store, which started back in 2009 in Emerald Hills, sells kosher food, runs a catering operation, also features a butcher counter, and bakes kosher pastries and breads on-site. Various vendors sell prepared kosher foods inside.
KC Market's owners launched the business when they noticed a gap in the area's kosher grocery and catering scene. Since then, they've expanded to include a full catering service with a fleet of refrigerated delivery vehicles that service events across Miami-Dade, Broward, and Palm Beach counties.
Other businesses at Oasis Hallandale include Oasis Fit, Dr. Bronovan ENT, and Oasis Dental. An Italian restaurant and design showroom will also open later this year, according to the developers.

A developer planning a medical office building in Hallandale Beach was hit with a $5.8 million foreclosure suit on the site.
The case comes as debt woes, including foreclosures and bankruptcies, continue in South Florida amid elevated interest rates, skyrocketing insurance, an office and apartment leasing slowdown and other economic headwinds.
Fort Lauderdale-based OptimumBank sued entity SE 9 St Holdings, which ties to Hollywood-based Coastline Management Group, as well as Coastline general counsel Justin Zeig and Coastline co-founder Eyal Mehaber for allegedly defaulting on the loan for the 1.4-acre site at 400 Southeast Ninth Street, according to the complaint filed late last month and real estate database Vizzda. Zeig and Mehaber signed loan guarantees.
OptimumBank provided the financing in 2023. The loan matures in 2035 and requires interest-only payments until April, according to a mortgage record. It has a fixed interest rate of 8.55 percent until April of next year, when a new rate kicks in equal to the one-year Treasury Bill plus 3.25 percent, with the floor of 5 percent, the record shows.
The suit is for $5.8 million, including interest and fees. The complaint doesn’t specify when the default occurred. Mehaber declined to comment. Zeig and OptimumBank’s attorney didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.
The developer proposes an eight-story building on the site with 76,100 square feet of medical offices and a garage, according to a Hallandale Beach Department of Sustainable Development flyer provided by Vizzda. Construction has not started.
ST 9 St Holdings paid $4.4 million in 2022 for the site on the southeast corner of Southeast Ninth Street and Southeast Third Avenue, property records show. The seller was Miami-based LV Lending, which had seized the property after filing a $3.3 million foreclosure against the previous owner. The site consists of seven lots, two with a pair of single-family homes and the remainder vacant.
Coastline, also co-founded by Felice Mehaber, is a value-add investment, property management and development firm, its website shows. Separately from the Hallandale Beach project, Coastline-Nakash, a firm led by Mehaber and Yaniv Nakash, plans the eight-story, 454-unit Eden apartment building with 12,000 square feet of commercial space at 3550 Northwest South River Drive in unincorporated Miami-Dade County. The project, which would be near the Miami River, was scaled down from the originally proposed 822 units.
Elsewhere in South Florida, Miami Beach-based lender Safe Harbor Equity filed a foreclosure in June against developer Celal Ozkan’s affiliate on a multifamily development site at 16300 Northeast 19th Avenue in North Miami Beach. The foreclosure is tied to a $7.7 million loan. Ozkan, who plans a 19-story, 341-unit tower on the site, first sued Safe Harbor in April, alleging usury and manufacturing default claims. Ozkan’s affiliate filed for Chapter 11 reorganization late last month, pausing the pending litigation between the borrower and lender.
Last month, Boca Raton-based Penn-Florida Companies wiggled out of a foreclosure auction on a Boca Raton multifamily development site by filing for bankruptcy. Lender Blackstone Mortgage Trust had filed foreclosure in December on a $145 million loan for the site at 101 East Camino Real, where Penn-Florida plans a 14-story, 366-unit apartment building.

Fort Lauderdale-based OptimumBank (NYSE: OPHC) filed a foreclosure complaint on Jan. 23 against Hollywood-based SE 9 St Holdings LLC, along with trusts led by Justin Zeig and Eyal Mehaber. The lawsuit targets the 1.37-acre site at 302 to 400 S.E. 9th Street. The property has a few single-family homes, but it’s mostly vacant. Property data firm Vizzda confirmed the real estate details.

It’s located just west of Gulfstream Park.
According to city records, the property was approved for a 90,813-square-foot medical office building. No construction has started there.
Miami-based attorney Jennifer L. James, who represents OptimumBank in the lawsuit, couldn’t be reached for comment.
OptimumBank provided the $5.6 million loan to SE 9 St Holdings in 2023. The interest rate was the one-year Treasury Bill plus 3.25 percentage points, with a minimum rate of 5%. The maturity date wasn’t until 2035, but it was interest-only until April 2025.
According to the lawsuit, the borrower defaulted on the loan for failing to satisfy the terms of the agreement and owes a combined $5.82 million in principal and interest, but the lawsuit didn’t say when that default occurred.
Mehaber, who is also the president of Coastline Management Group, couldn’t be reached for comment.
There’s a second pending lawsuit in Broward County against SE 9 St Holdings. In April 2024, Alejandro Chaberman filed a complaint against the company for allegedly refusing to pay him $100,000 he is owed under a consulting contract for helping securing city approval for the medical office building. SE 9 St Holdings filed an answer and affirmative defenses to the case in June 2024, saying Chaberman’s contract had expired.
This is actually the second time this property has been subject to a foreclosure lawsuit. In 2020, LV Lending filed a $3.3 million foreclosure complaint against a different borrower over this same property. It seized the land in foreclosure in 2021, and then sold it for $4.4 million in 2022 to SE 9 St Holdings.
